Six rules
How to keep it for years
In order of how often people get them wrong.
Do almost nothing
Use it. Handling is what darkens and softens the leather. A pouch kept in a box will age badly and unevenly.
Keep it dry
If it gets wet, blot it with a cloth and let it dry away from heat. Never a radiator, never a hairdryer — heat is what cracks leather, not water.
Wipe, do not scrub
A dry, soft cloth removes almost everything. Avoid soap, solvents and household wipes.
Condition sparingly
A trace of neutral leather balm every few months — every 3–4 months on the Natural pouch — worked in with a cloth. Too much conditioner darkens unevenly and softens the structure.
Suede is different
Do not condition suede. Brush it with a suede brush when the nap flattens, and keep it out of the rain.
If it fails
Write to us before you take it to anyone else. We made it, so we can usually repair it.
